Pindary Glacier Trek

Day 01: Arrival Kathgodam – Bageshwar:
Upon arrival at Kathgodam railway station meet to our representative and transfer to Bageshwar via Bhawali, Almora & Kausani. On arrival check in hotel. Rest of the time visit Bageshwar Bagnath Temple.  Bageshwar is the last nontrivial town on this route. Driving till here is straightforward, but from here onwards, the roads narrow significantly.

Day 02: Bageshwar-Song- Loharkhet (56 Km)
Early in the morning take breakfast and drive to Loharkhet via Song, Song (1300m) is the last place on Song is on the banks of the Revati Ganga river. From the road, a short walk takes you to a little bridge, looking over the river. It was extremely pretty. Looking down on the Revati Ganga river, at Song. Later commence a short trek to Loharkhet is at an altitude of 1760 metres.

Day 03: Loharkhet - Dhakuri (2680 mts)
Breakfast at tent, later being the trek to Dhakuri. It is around 15 km trek today that takes you down into the depths of the valley and then a fair climb to Dhakuri. The path goes up to a pass named Dhakuri Khal, which is 2940 metres. There are plans to take the glimmer of a road all the way up to Dhakuri. At Dhakuri Khal, on a clear day, you can see the snow clad peaks of the southern wall of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. It would be neat to come up to Dhakuri Khal early in the morning, when the skies are clear. At Dhakuri Khal, there is a turnoff which takes you to a temple, which is 200 metres higher. From Dhakuri Khal, descend to Dhakuri (2680 metres), a walk of 2 km in very beautiful forest. This was the end of day 1. Overall, it was a height gain of 1400 metres, and a walk of 19 km. This was the hardest day of the trip - after this, you're broken in and the remaining days flow more easily. Dinner and overnight at Dhakuri. (6-7 hrs trek)

Day 04: Dhakuri - Khati (2210 mts)
After breakfast commence trek to Khati around 10 Km, this is the easy trek, it consisted of getting to Khati. This is a descent, since Khati is 2210 metres. However, the KMVN hut is 0.5 km beyond Khati, and a steep climb. Khati is the place where you'd turn off from the main path to zero point, in order to visit Sunder Dhunga. Dinner and overnight stay in Tent.

Day 05: Khati - Dwali (2575 mts)
Breakfast at tent, later commence trek to Dwali. Dwali has quite a reputation as a very beautiful place, and many people like to stay over there. When we walked on the path out of Khati, at first things seemed to be going swimmingly, and then all of a sudden the path ended in a huge fall!   Once again, this was beautiful forest walk, From Khati to Dwali runs all along the Pindari river. It is a climb, Dwali is at 2575 metres. Pindari is a beautiful, perfect, mountain river. Finally, after a long walk and height gain, we reach a second bridge on the Pindari river, right across which is Dwali. This one is much more of a well built bridge, unlike the previous one. Overnight at tent. (7-8 hrs trek)

Day 06: Dwali - Phurkia (3206 mts)
Dwali is the last place which has nice dense normal forest. It is at 2575 metres of altitude. Beyond this, the vegetation starts thinning out, the air feels perceptibly thin, and the entire world starts feeling different. Shortly after Dwali, the trees dwindle away. You cross the tree line, you are out of the forest, and into the big mountains. Phurkiya is the last outpost of KMVN. They have a hut there. There is little else there. It is a marvelous place to just sit out and watch the clouds go by. But it has a hostile and arid feeling. You know at every moment that this is not your native locale. The air feels thin, it is very cold, and it feels distinctly hard to do physical exertion. The barren icy peaks seem to be your only companions for the day. Dinner and overnight stay in tent/rest house.

07 Phurkia - Pindari Glacier (3900 mts)
After an early breakfast start trek to Pindary Glacier… The Pindari glacier trip ends for most at an arbitrary point which has been designated `zero point'. Beyond this, the going gets relatively technical and ordinary hikers do not go. You don't get to see Nanda Devi, but you do get to see peaks around her.  The Pinder valley is also prominent with its patches of lush greenery over the stark white landscape. Return to Phurkia. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 08: Phurkia – Dwali
After breakfast commence trek back to Dwali… will take about 4 hrs. Dinner and overnight stay in tents/rest house.

Day 09: Dwali – Khati
This is the descending trek to Khati, this is around 5-6 hrs trek. Exploring Khati is a good idea as it has some beautiful sights to offer. Dinner and overnight stay in tents/rest house.

Day 10: Khati – Dhakuri
In the morning after breakfast trek down to Dhakuri. The trek is 8-9 kms and it will take 3-4 hrs. Dinner and overnight stay in tents/rest house.

Day 11: Dhakuri - Loharkhet - Song – Bageshwar
Trek all the way to song today 13 km, 5-6 hrs and drive back to Bageshwar. Overnight at Rest house. The trek has come to an end. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
